No whammies, no whammies, no whammies, no whammies, STOP!
What's that from, suckers?
This, my friends, is a double whammie. A quote and a song because they are by the same artist. When the Pawn... is my favorite Fiona Apple album of all time. I guess this explains why I was so angry when I was 14, but I'll talk more about that in another post.
Here is the entire poem, from the title of the album, along with my favorite song. Enjoy!
When the pawn hits the conflicts, he thinks like a king.
What he knows throws the blows when he goes into the fight,
and he'll win the whole thing 'fore he enters the ring.
There's no body to batter when your mind is your might.
So when you go solo, you hold your own hand,
And remember that depth is the greatest of heights,
And if you know where you stand, then you know where to land,
And if you fall, it won't matter, cuz you'll know that you're right.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who still likes Fiona Apple??
